Hello all! Well my casual birdwatching has taken a new step into bird forums. I live in southern Arizona and primarily enjoy birdwatching at my home and out and about for my work. I am continuously trying to create and maintain a native habitat for our local bird and wildlife populations. Excited to delve a bit deeper into the community and the hobby.

This morning at the house we have House finches, lesser goldfinches, Gila woodpeckers, Abert’s Towhees, curve billed thrashers, Cooper’s hawk, white winged doves, gambels quail, verdin, pyrrhuloxia, and the unfortunate house sparrow.

I use a small 8x32 vortex monocular that I have laying around. Considering upgrading which is another rabbit hole that I probably don’t need to go down. Ha.

Hi CB and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

LOL I know what you mean!!! We do have some very helpful guys in the Binocular forums, if you want to pop down there. They would need to have some idea of your budget and perhaps the type of birding you want to do. You'll find them here: Binoculars

Hi CB, welcome to the forum.Southeastern AZ, is in my opinion, one of the best places for a birder in the US. Even just birding and creating a birding habitat in your backyard will bring in more species than in many places here. I lived there for a long time and had a large “yard” bird count.
