Perhaps sunshine and heat causes the problem.How many Canon IS have sticky rubber?How many years does it take before the problem shows?Have people cured the problem?I have had sticky binoculars but they cured themselves.I would not buy a used Canon IS as I bought an old 10x30 IS and it has moisture condensation inside.But I had similar problems with fine Zeiss  binoculars.Leather covered binoculars also have problems.My Fotons have very high resolution and fine optics but still smell badly after 15 years from new. So I don't use them often.</blockquote>
