As an aside: Controlling stray light is even in many modern binoculars nowhere near as good as it could (and should be), even though it's probably more important for image quality and usability in the field than an additional 2 or 3% in transmission. Or, indeed, a totally sharp image to the edge.Hermann</blockquote>
