Recently, I had two SE's serviced by Nikon and they did a superb job in both cases. Turnaround was three weeks for both binoculars and the total cost for the first was shipping plus $10; the second was repaired and returned at no charge. After four years of heavy use our "serviced" SE's are as good as new. Replacement eyecups are being sent from Japan to the US and I'm sure someone will post when they become available. Nikon is not going to incur whole unit replacement costs when a pair of inexpensive eyecups will put an SE back into service! Nikon’s No-Fault repair policy should allay any fears about future support. John PS I can afford any binocular, I've seen the very best, and I still prefer my SE. In spite of cost, I'll consider the new EL along with the Nikon EDG (when they become available) as a replacement to my Leica Ultravid…a binocular that does not beat my SE in terms of pure visceral enjoyment. I theorize that the wider spacing between porro objectives simply results in a more natural view that, once experienced, is never forgotten and always appreciated.
