Nikon vs Swarovski (1 Viewer)

Hello all,

I was looking at the Swarovski ATS 65 and then saw the Nikon Monarch and EDG models of comparable objective sizes and was wondering how do these actually compare to the Swarovski?

It seems like you can get an EDG body on ebay for less then a 1/3 of an ATS and same for the Monarch, but cheaper still.

I've got an svbony sa401 at the moment which is ok, but the top end isn't that great and its not ideal with eyeglasses.

Afaik, the EDG is out of production, so you would need to find a dealer with NOS or buy used. I've used it on travel, excellent optics, nice and bright, albeit a narrow FoV. Finding eye pieces is an Ebay proposition, maybe a Japanese site such as Tenso would work (Contact Us | Forwarding service connecting overseas customers and Japanese online stores [tenso.com] ).
The new Monarch 82 gets great reviews, but I don't think there is a 65 mm version offered.
My impression fwiw is that the Swaro 65 is currently the gold standard for mid sized scopes.

Not 65mm, but there is a 60mm version of the current Nikon Monarch ED:
Probably just as fine a device as its predecessor, but unfortunately also quite rear-heavy. Personally, I would tend towards the ATS.
