Let me bactrack a few posts before answering the last two. Henry, I finally had time to do that little trick with the clear ruler you suggest. Very neat once I figured out a way to do it with what I had. I unscrewed the aluminum sleeve off of the 25 mm Plossl and was able to get the appropriate distance back from the zoom eyepiece in order to see what the ruler showed in front of the objective. The 30 cm mark on the ruler was at the top of the objective and the 22 cm mark was at the botton. With that in mind I was able to see the 29 cm mark and the 23 cm mark clearly without repositioning my eye. There may have been a hair more to view above and below that but definitely not up to the full 80 mm. So if I understand things correctly then that means this is probably stopped down to something between 60-65 mm? Laura, When I say "stepped-down" I mean the inside diameter of the adaptor will have to be noticeably narrower to fit around the outside of a typical 1.25 inch astro eyepiece if it is also to fit around the outside of the scope body with those threads. Kevin, They are outside threads on the scope body and the diameter is 52 mm. If you have a suggestion for an adaptor then I would love to hear it. It would surely be a nice bonus to be able to mount some of my standard 1.25 inch astro eyepieces into this scope.
