Norfolk Coast on Tuesday, 17th February

Hi All

I'll be hitting the north Norfolk coast finally after a gap of a few years on Tuesday, 17th and wanted to thank everyone for their contributions over the last few days which have helped me plan.

If I bother anyone on the day as I walk around just bear with me; I'll probably be very excited.

Any late news/round-up on the usual suspects (RL Buz, buntings, white-winged gulls, etc) on Monday would be very much appreciated and if anyone is happy to swap mobile numbers via PMs I'd be more than happy to reciprocate should anyone get over to my neck of the woods (NE Spain).

All the best

No. The Norfolk and other UK sightings were vagrants, however there is a re-introduction project in France so it has been suggested that this could explain the arrival of several birds in the UK in 2014/15.

I've just read this and I'm still confused. Is there a re-introduction project going on in the UK/Norfolk?

Cheers

Not sure if it's worth reporting here but at least one Rough-legged Buzzard still ar Burnham Overy and visible from the A149 parking spot albeit distant. Initially harried by Marsh Harrier and then itself pursuing a Common Buzzard in an attempt yo swipe its prey; this all at 15:30 ish. Earlier at Holkham a probable Goshawk (juvenile) flashed pass terrifying all the ducks waders and corvids. Sadly just too brief a view.

Halvergate SEO-fest!

Terrific views of two (perhaps three) Short-eared Owls hunting around the railway bridge this afternoon: one nearly came a cropper as it crossed the road! A Rough-leg was perched on a gatepost to the east for an hour.

Norfolk Ravens!

While 'shriking' at Santon Downham today, Martin Read and I saw a couple of Ravens displaying overhead. I reckon I've seen a couple in Norfolk in the past (Buckenham & Winterton) but this is the first I've pinned down photographically!

Brilliant record of Ravens. It's a county description species :)
Most of us who live in the Brecks still haven't seen this species locally. My only encounter was 2 over West Stow Country Park in August 2009-ish (during the Atlas fieldwork years).

Thanks for sharing, we'll keep our eyes open.

Cheers Dawn!
There were four other guys there who got onto the birds: one of them is a high-profile birder, who I asked to submit - Martin & I tend not to these days....
