Anyone got any gen on this whale, reported on RBA yesterday evening apparently for its second day?

Viewed from Bournemouth pier, I'll go this afternoon if its still there and not turned up its flukes yet!

I may be relaxed but I'm not drunk....
Still there this morning apparently, moving (slowly!) west, between Alum Chine and Durley Chine (west of Bournemouth Pier).

What a top evening despite the torrential rain, with 30 breaches during my visit and lots of tail slapping.

Photos were challenging in the conditions but I have attached a few of the best pics with lots more on my page access via my webpage you want the 2009 wildlife pics link.

THE WANDERER

I was there from 12 til 4pm and saw it quite a few times, once fully breaching when I was viewing from Alum Cove but mostly just breaking the surface at irregular intervals with up to 20 minute gaps. Not too far out and several people got record shots. I managed to scope it on the surface with just head and beak showing.

I take it this animal has now gone. The last report I saw was from early yesterday morning (Thurs).
Anyone know any different?

It was still there on Friday at 5pm according to reports given to the Daily Echo. Apparently it has settled in to what is claimed to be a triangular feeding pattern west of the pier.

Saw its' back twice today at 1515....too many powerboats speeding close inshore along its' favoured line and it was being chased around by two dinghy-loads so I hoped it would re-show from 1700 when the area was much quieter...but no!!

Not very impressed with the lack of reports over the weekend given that it was being seen. How much of one's day does one lose by ringing RBA?

I hope no-one who saw it and failed to report it is in the habit of twitching other reporters' sightings.

See above.

Seen Friday by BFer (no report all day on RBA), seen Saturday by BFer (no report all day on RBA) - post-dates last Echo sighting by nearly 24 hrs.

Was it there Sunday? Who knows. One thing I know is that several people wanted to go over the weekend but assumed it would be reported if there. Had I known of the Friday sighting I might have had a punt with Mysticete Saturday morning.

No-one I know has seen this since late last week (ie up to Friday); I've not had chance to look myself, but will be passing that way later today so if there's a parking space I'll have a go and report back.
