Two Glaucous Gulls in fields near Linton Pond today. A 1st-winter and a very pale immature - presumably a 2w. Gulls very flightly though and could easily have been more.

had a trip to bolam lake today..
a few bramblings around the car park...and all the usual suspects,
a herd of 60+ whooper swans north of here about 3 miles
cheers dougie..Nice pics Steve, but your Robin photo should've been on a spade handle and you could've made a fortune selling christmas cards - great shot mate
Cheers,
Dougie.
it didn`t happen in Northumberland, but i saw a peregrine take a black headed gull out yesterday....hit it with its talons forcing it to crash land...then killed it before taking(with a struggle) to the top of a crane to eat it....i only know it was a black headed gull because 30 minutes later its head was discarded and fell within ten feet of me
Don't know if you've seen the report on the Durham thread Derek? Some were seen this afternoon on the Felling by-pass, opposite Gateshead stadium.Hoping to be over next weekend, any waxwings about? This is a blocker for my mate and we have dipped out on them 4 years in a row around Cramlington?
No signs of Lesser Celandine in Jesmond Dene yet. The leaves are visible but I could not find any flowers. Did you know that you can record the date of your Morpeth Lesser Celandine on the Nature's Calendar site (and a lot of other dates too as the year progresses)?First Lesser Celandine of the year in Morpeth's Carlisle Park :t:
