.but why post a report of birds at St Mary's on the Durham thread I wonder? No matter, I'm off to see them shortly....
managed to dive away from work earlier today and got excellent views of the pair of garganey at st.marys:t:..at one point the birds were just 20 foot away from one of the screens!.but they were moving around the wet lands alot..even within 15 feet of a fox asleep in the grass at one stage..
the starlings here were very active also,,must be 300+.

Amongst the usuals, caught the Garganey on the pool but too far to photograph, White Wagtail (so everyone there said)
I agree its a female Pied Wagtail it is not pale enough to be a White Wagtail.Hi Nellieberta,
I'm pretty sure that is a female Pied Wagtail, although they can be tricky. The mantle colour doesn't look pale enough for White Wagtail, the flanks have a lot of grey on them and the black of the crown and nape seems to merge diffusely into the mantle.
