Goshawk

Headed out with the dog this morning at about 10.30 just coming out of kingston park had a Goshawk come out of the estate climbing as if just failed to kill.It then began to circle and gain height, accompanied by a small flock of Gulls.I chase after it in the car but when I got to the lay by on Brunton Lane lost it,but just,as the Crows were clamped in the middle of the trees and calling nervously

just got a text off a nonbirder eagle owl in walker anyone know anything:t:

I'm guessing it is the one that has been knocking around Wallsend (feeding on cats) for a while now. Falconers have tried to get it back 'on the fist' but without joy. I'm not sure what happens next. I've heard that it is roosting on private land and the land owner is happy to have it there in order to keep the rat numbers down.

Harry Potter and the fact that you can buy these birds (unlicensed) for less than £100 (less than 50 for a BO) have a lot to answer for.

walked under the oldgate bridge today at noon, and saw a female goosander hanging about with the mallards.
It seemed to have a damaged wing.

Worth a second opinion if anyone is passing through morpeth

Pergs in the park.

A pair of peregrines sitting on the pylons which run through the great north park this morning.
Jack snipe around the pond just beside the A1.

Highlights were Jay (1), Willow Tit (1), Lesser Redpoll (7+), Bullfinch (3), Song Thrush (4), Mistle Thrush (1), Grey Plover (1), Golden Plover (15) and a single PF Goose. Skylarks moving through still with 17 at one point, Last Sunday there were 5 Buzzards in the air at the same time.

No White's Thrush though!

yeah mate, getting out when i can!

my little daughter is now 3 months old, so wont be long before im dragging her around the forests etc with me!

Nice one mate! My daughter was 2 in July and believe me it's not easy birding with a 2 year old, having said that she has a canny bird list already.

I didn't know you were a fellow 'Walker' lad.

I had a walk along the beach at Cresswell on Saturday and I see someone has been out with there spade, digging a channel to let the water out of the pond. It was working slowly and wouldn't have taken much more work to get it flowing well.

There was a few RT Divers and small pod of Porpoises feeding just offshore.
