Plenty of migrants being reported in our area on Birdguides.
Red Flanked Bluetail and Pallas's Warbler on Holy Island.
Bluethroat and GG Shrike on the Farnes, Pallas's at St Mary's.

Things are looking up for the weekend!

Yep. I can feel a trip to Holy Island coming on for tomorrow.

Not to mention all the Waxwings flooding in.

The bluetail was showing well this afternoon, between being bullied by a robin with a chip on its shoulder. The Pallas's was showing down to a few feet on the occasions it was seen, but with most of the attention being on the bluetail, it may have been seen less than was warranted by its presence. There were also goldcrests, loads of chiffchaffs and a pair of blackcaps in the garden.

Black redstart in the ploughed field that held the desert wheatear the other year.

being a bit new to all this and not having a pager or similar - is there a way to narrow down where they are or do you just pitch up and keep your eyes open?

After dipping on the Blutail and every thing else I went for yesterday, now I'm back at work for the next six days, the bloody thing has been found again, at Chaire Ends Gardens, where ever they are. Shame!! Red-Flanked Bluetail is one of those birds I really wanted to see. I'll just have to wait for the next one.

An admirer of Kelly Brooks' talents.
Had an excellent day over your way today. First, had excellent views of the Desert Wheatear at Newbiggin then popped over to Holy Island and (eventually) had great views of the Red Flanked Bluetail. It was opposite the Lindisfarne hotel when we seen it.

Could anyone tell me if they've seen any sizeable flocks of feeding Common Scoters in Northumberland recently? Last few attempts to find any in north Northumberland have drawn a blank.

Anbody seen any in Druridge Bay, or how about Ross Back Sands or Cocklawburn?

I've heard second hand that there has been a male HH knocking about Preswick Carr this week, has anybody seen it?

Cheers
Craig

It has been there for about a week now. All the reports have been from the East end of the carr. I tried for it on Saturday, while I was at the East end the HH was seen North of the wood by another birder. Sods Law!

Plenty on the move past St Marys recently, along with a few Velvets.

would someone enlighten me as to where the public carpark is at Lynemouth power station. I usually just park on the verge just past the railway bridge.

Our October WeBS count (Cresswell-Chevington Burn) produced...1!!! There have been a small number (~20) off Harkess Rocks the last couple of times I've been there.

Over the last month there has regularly been a group of up to 12 common scoters off Seaton sluice down past the Kings arms. Mind you I haven't been there for the last week or so.

Was at cresswell today and was pleased to see that for whatever reason the water level has dropped again. Unfortunately, no one has told the birds yet as although there are plenty of ducks and a couple of whooper swans around there were very few waders taking advantage of all the lovely reclaimed mud.

The desert wheatear was showing well this afternoon around the 5th tee box at Newbiggin golf course. As someone remarked it is a real 'bobby dazzler.'
