he asked what to with it so i suggested taking along to leazes park boating lake and letting it go there near the water as, being tired it would vulnerable to cats. i'm not sure he understood what vulnerable meant.

i hope the poor thing was ok.

seen reported on another thread (along with a few snipeing comments), this link seems to indicate a happy ending.

I had a trip upto East Chev this morning, very quiet on the pools. A Barnacle Goose was mixing with a flock of Canada's on the North pool and a large flock of Greylag and pink-feet flew in and join them. There was a 1st winter Med Gull in a field by the road.
On the sea a Great Northern Diver worked its way North up the coast, there were also 5 or 6 Red-Throated Divers off shore with a few small groups of Common Scoter.

On the way home I stopped at West Hartford to see the Short-Eared Owls. There were at least 3 showing very well and a Common Buzzard sitting in a tree beyond the flash.

Isn't it a beauty

Crackin' drake LT Duck on Holywell Pond at noon. Flew off at 12.05 pm northwest. Not seen again (I checked West Hartford, Arcot and Big Waters). Also a equally stunnin' female Goosander at Arcot at 14.10 pm. It too departed, flying south west. At 42, I can still make the birds move the opposite way!!!!

Better DAy

12/12 - 0850 - Arcot Pond - Female Goosander back, accompanied by a Grey Heron, 15 Mallards, two Moorhen, 3 BH Gulls and 2 C Gulls. Four Bullfinches and several Redwing in the hedges.

0930 - West Hartford - Two Kestrels, Two Buzzards, c100 Lapwing, c20 Teal & c40 Gulls (H/BH/C). Sadly, no SEOs but Lifer 169 for me was a juvenile Peregrine that spent a good five minutes back and forth over the Flash and surrounds. Quite brilliant!

Just popped on to wish you all a merry xmas and all the best for 2007. Haven`t been able to get out at all with this cold weather playing havoc with my arthritis hence no reports for a while.Hopefully if we get a break in the weather and some mild conditions i`ll be able to get out and about again...

All the best to you too Mark. Hope you manage to get out soon. With the cold and grey skies, it's certainly not too inviting at the minute.

Keep the reports of your visits to Gosforth Reserve coming. They're appreciated. I would have missed the Garganeys in April (a lifer for me) if you hadn't mentioned them.
