Am I correct that this is a Brown Shrike showing the "pale eye stripe" mentioned in some descriptions? I can't find a matching photo.

I was thinking the brown eye mask was paler than the usual black. But on reflection, "pale" would not be an expected word choice for that.

Regardless of the verbal description, I would like to know what this is and why it's eye stripe is brown. Immature plumage???

It's a fem Bull-headed Shrike. A similar bird ML144984111 Bull-headed Shrike Macaulay Library build is too slight (especially bill) for superciliosus Brown + the upperpart colouration would be much warmer.
