I think, for me anyway, there is a point of sharpness or resolution, that anything beyond it is more than adequate, top shelf actually, and we are only going for bragging points on some resolution chart. I have tried all of the alpha bins, Nikon, Leica, Zeiss and Swarovski, and they are all great as far as resolution goes, but for me there is so much more to a binocular than that. I have high hopes for the smaller SE, I own the larger one so know what to expect. One of the things that makes the 8x32EL my favorite up to this point is it seemed to have a larger, easier view, even though it's EP was the same as other 8x32s. If the little SE matches it in that feature I will be ecstatic. I actually like ergonomics of the 10x42SE, so don't expect to have problems with that, and I have other waterproof bins in case of bad weather so that isn't an issue either. Anyway, this goes back to my optical quality versus the whole package argument. Dennis, I remember it was just a short while ago when you were raving about the 7x42BN, being the best view ever, then I was searching everything I could find on the 8x32SE and I found a thread from back around 2005 where you hated the little SE, what has changed your mind? I'm pretty sure it was the 8x32 not the 10x42 model. My point is that we get emotional about these wonderful optical mechanisms, myself I tend to go the other way with a "grass is greener" attitude, where I start to notice and harp on the little faults as no binocular is perfect. I plan to take my SE over to the shop to compare it to the 8x32EL, Ultravid HD and Trinovid BN. Personally, resolution will be the least of my concerns as they are all beyond what I can see in an actual working situation, and my eyes correct to 20-10 vision. John
