An entertaining and confiding bird that is putting in an extended stay despite the conditions. It is finding food & in the first pic, it has found a noctuid moth caterpillar.

However, mainly, it seemed to be finding vegetable matter & earwigs and feeding in leaf litter under oak canopies which as a result, were not frozen.

I had forgotten that was the same year as the one I ticked on Fair Isle. Indeed the same month - October..

I agree with Paul, a most obliging bird and well worth a visit. Fairly local for me and it was like watching a new bird. Only 42 years since I saw my last one on Tresco !!! Excellent set of pics Paul.
