Hi there,

Has anyone any experience with comparing the DBA and BGA VHD in 8x42?

How do they compare to each other and maybe something like the Viking ED-Pro by Kamakura

Thanks

I am surprised no one has responded yet ... I purchased the DBA VHD version of the 8x42. Very sharp/bright and a pleasure to use. I have not handled the Imagic BGA VHD version. From what I have read here, those that have handled both say they have the same optical glass. The difference is .. one with the single hinge, the other has the double. The Imagic BGA VHD description does not mention ED glass like the DBA VHD, but it’s been mentioned here the VHD means having ED glass in the Imagic VHD 8x42. If I am wrong maybe someone will correct my understanding of the differences between the two. I have never read any info on the Viking ED - Pro being compared to the two Opticron 8x42’s.

Hi, are you still happy with them? I'm considering buying them. Tests say they have excellent Optics.

Hi, I no longer have these. Not because of any regrets or negative issues. Due to my age/eye pupil size I have decided that a 42mm binocular really is not going to provide any more brightness to my aging eyes that a good premium 30 - 32 mm binoculars would. Having said this, I still highly recommend the Opticron DBA VHD first or 2nd generation 8x42mm binocular. When comparing these to binoculars that cost double or triple their cost, I consider the Opticron DBA VHD a really unbelievable deal. Why ? ..... you save thousands in purchase dollars with one of the best warranty available for any 42mm binocular now available, that really do provide a Alpha like experience both in their robust construction/handling as well as their outstanding optical view.

Thank you. I think I'm going to take them :)
