Hi,

I've recently inherited this Spotters Scope it's a Optolyth 30 X75 Breitland- Vergutung. Made in Germany.
In good condition

It also has an old leather case which is not good condition.

Can anyone help me out and give me a rough estimate of it's worth please.

My late great uncle was a bird spotter from Faversham ,Kent.

Thank you.

Here are some photos .

Not a huge amount I'm afraid if its a rubberised straight body draw tube type though they were popular during the 70s with birders. Good performance for the time. Many have suffered from internal condensation despite tight rubber seals. Some occassionally turn up on ebay if you want a price guide.

I've just checked, surprisingly they range from £99 to over £300.

Optolyth drawtube scopes ... Well, that's a blast from the past. 1970s/1980s stuff. Not waterproof at all, leaked like a sieve in the rain. Optically half-way decent, but no more than that. I had a 22x70 for a while, passed it on to someone in the family and switched to a Kowa TS-1.
