Orchis collina (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Just got back from spending a week in the sun on Spain's Costa del sol in Nerja.

I was surprised how easy it was to find Orchis collina which I had thought was a bit of a rarity. It turned out to be the only Orchid I came across.

Suitable Orchid sites are difficult to locate however due to the continual building along the coast.

Dave.

Ghostly Vision

Hi Dave

Nice pictures.

As far as I'm aware, O. collina is a realtively common and widespread species around the mediterranean. I think because it flowers so early not many people have seen it (I was a little too late in Cyprus in March 06 and too early this year in Italy).

If you are going to Spain looking for Orchids in peak time (April/May), let me know and I'll see what I can find for you.

Cheers

Sean
