Hi Ann,

Thank you, I hope it will be the 25th I may be going out for the day on the 26th, watching planes at Manchester I have more luck seeing them than birds when out.

Thanks Girls,

As usual I missed it and whenever I have looked at "Madam" this morning she has been busy preening herself as if that is the most important thing in her world.

I too will be sat at the PC all day, supposedly doing the tv diary, big week coming up "Springwatch" but for me Ospreys are far more important.

Thanks again.

She's done that twice in half an hour - hopefully she'll learn! Video captures are working great but chick so tiny that difficult to see on a single frame. Here's an early one from 9.38 - you can just see the head strip and wing.

Thanks,

That is a great photo, I just looked at her now and she was looking at the sky, wonder if she is getting hungry and wondering when her meal will be delivered?

Hi,

EJ just stood up and I got a great look at the chick but before I could save it she had sat down again.

Can you please tell me how you grab a "video" picture others have tried and I have failed miserably.

Maybe also she wants to show off the chick to OVJ - haven't seen him around since the hatching, although could have missed it I suppose if he shot in and out quickly.
I'll PM you about the captures.

12.26 and EJ decides to do a spot of housework - yet again appearing to almost stand on the chick (and wave a big stick close to it) - don't know if my nerves can take all this stress! Chick now able to hold its head up (attached) which it didn't manage before. Now if only OVJ would come back with some food....

First (I think) feed - having to wait for a while has given the chick a good appetite!

Hi Ann,

I haven't dared look until now since this morning's "clean up", I think E J was so hungry she was venting her anger on the nest, don't know how else to put that but I didn't think the chick would live the day as she kept standing on it, I had to go for a walk round the garden.

Thanks to Trossachs who kindly phoned me and talked me through installing the programme I can now get screen grabs and video pictures, she deserves a medal wasting a lovely afternoon outside teaching me as my boss will tell anybody I am the oldest slowest trainee in the world.

At last I have looked at the camera and so pleased to see EJ tearing at a fish (5.30) bit gruesome to save a picture just yet and EJ hasn't yet mastered the art of feeding a chick, she looks a bit unsure of things, definitely has not had the experience Marge has had.

I don't know why but when I first saw the chick this morning I thought "Oscar" for the name as I have a star for EJ on my toolbar as she has always been one to me.

Your crystal ball worked well Ann only I was shopping when the chick actually hatched but thank goodness for BF read the news on here first.

I hope all goes well over the next few days as I am off to Spain and will probably miss the hatching of other chicks. Good Luck EJ. Look after them well until I get back!
