Other Plant Forums (1 Viewer)

Birdforum is my favorite forum for everything related to birds or animals in general.

I also enjoy reading sometimes in the Trees, Flowers, Plants and Shrubs forums but I am wondering if
there are other forums that are comparable in terms of politeness and knowledge of the participants
but which might be more focused on plants with more participants.

There's certainly plenty of plant based Facebook groups such as Plant Identification UK, Wild Flowers of Britain & Ireland, Wild Flowers of Europe amongst many others. All have a number of expert people responding to requests as well as less knowledgeable people making wild guesses! Also more specialist groups on UK orchids, orchids of Europe, etc.

Wild about the British Isles has a wild flower section but the site has very few active participants so maybe not so good.

I agree with aeshna5, Facebook groups seem to be best for plant ID etc. The old Wild About Britain forum used to have a couple of really knowledgeable plant people, including aeshna5, and the wild flower section on there was great, but nothing has really taken its place since its demise.

That's your opinion but they can be very useful. I've learnt plenty in specialist groups such as hoverflies & bees. Some groups can be pretty awful, it requires careful selection, but there are many knowledgeable people on there willingly sharing information. No platform is perfect-even BF gets its share of nonsense with insults, etc being flung around.

Indeed it is - and no comment at all on those contributing/using. I just don't like the way the platform works.
