Oversized Wood Pigeon (1 Viewer)

Just caught a snippet on the news this morning about a Wood Pigeon, nicknamed "Hercules", that's 50% larger than normal. The mind boggles. How often does this sort of thing occur? Is there a name for it? Gigantism maybe?

Probably the woodpigeon had fluffed up its feathers in order to keep itself warm - it tends to make them look much larger than they really are.

You've obviously not seen the picture in the Daily Express. This is one huge Woodie. ;)

The photo was on GMTV this morning. My god it's a big b****r. It showed the pigeon mopping the peanuts up whole from the bird table. There was a Blue Tit by the side of it that was totally dwarfed.

Now that must be the reason we are told not to put peanuts out loose! LOL! I really thought our woody's were big enough, that one had better watch out for the Sparrowhawks as ours here is rather partial to wood pigeon!

They didn't print my suggested caption "Airbus Industries reveal their new super-jumbo woodpigeon to the world". :(
