Oh, *tears*, my baby is gone, my tiny wee one? I am not certain if I am strong enough for this either. While on one hand it is the greatest gift to see these wondrous creatures in their element, as well as my beloved Ospreys, the Eagles, and the beautiful and swift Perrigrine Falcons I'm observing, on the other hand...sometimes ignorance is bliss. Phoenix died of pneumonia. Little Jamison broke a sholder and is in rehab instead of learning to hunt with his parents. Poor little Tiny, I'm sending prayers and good thoughts for the highest for you. Whether it means you leave us or return, I ask for the highest for your little body and soul. *Tears*

i.m so glad you found the forum. Maybe no news is good news. I.m just trying not to bring back to my mind what i saw and heard this morning. They really should have updated. There must be thousands of people all over the world feeling the same as us.

I suppose we won't know anything tonight about the Wally? I just hope someone (either vet or BOT person) has taken the little Wally home for some cautionary observation through the night and that tomorrow she'll be back, right as rain. Oh, I hope.....

Good evening all! And indeed a warm welcome to your "noobiness!" lol
Haven't been logged on for most of the day, but Ann kindly informed me (thanks, as ever!) of the little one's plight - it's very sad for this to happen, as i'm another who gets emotional about animals and birds. Of course i'm well aware of nature's crueller face, but i find it impossible not to feel involved - and to paraphrase the song title - if that's wrong i don't wanna be right! Just hoping for the best really :-C

we can all just hope for the best Nick. I tell you what though i.m so glad we started this forum off so as we can have here to come to for reassurance or just to spill out what we.re feeling. There's more USA visitors here too which i love. We can recruit more to be our eyes and ears on the osprey nest while we are fast asleep. In return we can update on the bruces when its our morning.

Absolutely Ann - this has become a great thread, and both a pleasure and a godsend to have our American friends on board. At least it's good to be able to share our thoughts and feelings with folk who feel the same, and brill for the overnight obs while we sleep (not convinced that you sleep much tho' given the times of some of your entries! lol) :-O

Well, it's been a stunning day here, and now it's finally cool enough to take my big choc labrador pal out for a decent walk! Catch you all later :t:

and don't forget the stork family in Spain starting out with 3 hatchlings and ending up with possibly only one - they went off the air so we may never know. Or the Tawny owl family in Germany - started with 5 owlets with all but one dying possibly by eating poisoned critters -- at least one did fledge and she was gorgeous.\

This has been my first adventure into following bird families via webcams. Lots of heartache but oh so many joyful moments, too. Like watching the hatching and jumps of mallard ducklings; or the marvelous growth and development of falcons, hawks, and other kestrels. Or Robins, Titmouse, Wrens, Barn Swallows, and so many more.

I really appreciate all the people involved who have kept these cameras going both live and by tapings. It's been quite an education, especially for an invalid like me.

Now I hope our subject owlet will be okay and can rejoin his family.

Is it my imagination, or are the Wallies uncharacteristically subdued? Do they miss little sister?

there's been a lot going on in the barn today. First the farmer to find the chick then he replaced it in the box only for it to hang from the door. As he put his hand up again it landed in the middle of the box in a heap. About fifteen minutes later the farmer came back with a man and child and they put the camera's off but you could hear them. It sounded like they took the lid off the box. After they had got the chick out there was lengthy discussion in the barn. They left but came back about half an hour later. This time the farmer and a lady maybe from the BOT? More discussion took place. I think the chicks will be shocked.
