Congratulations, Tom. I've worked 20 years for the State and it has felt like 40, I can't imagine how you feel really working 40 years for the NHS.

Thanks Marjorie and Nick. Nick guess what I will have to have a word! Its been a good career in the main but where have the years gone thats the frightening bit I still think I am only 40ish and I am sure child labour was not allowed LOL. Like all things now it is getting difficult as cost and demands rise while resources fall but eh oh thats why I need me birds and other wildlife!!

Hi Tom, don't tell me they haven't marked your long service in some way? That's dreadful! :-C
Yeah, it's scary when you try and work out where the years have gone, and i'm the same - i've started knocking a year off each birthday now!! I turned 52 the week the first chick hatched at LOTL, but as i posted on the blog at the time, i just tell folk i'm approaching late youth!! lol :-O

twit and twoo are on their tray waiting for a food drop. Been waiting a while hissing. Did anyone see countryfile tonight with the barn owl chicks. Fascinating stuff.

Oh well I see the mantling over the prey is here as well. Liked the one legged ballet while wing stretching the other was doing. Is all feeding now done on the ledge/roof rather than going in and out box?

The Brucies are still all leg and no head in their ever decreasing space.

Yeh at last a small flight with vole in mouth on to roof then off for some exercise. First flight I have seen but I am not lasting long enough as I hear Zebedee calling. Still 2 voles on ledge though so guess there has been plenty deliveries and we have 2 well fed owlets tonight.

they.re fantastic at hiding lol. Seen another owl too. Not sure if it was a parent. It flew under the box but not onto it. The 2 chicks weren't very excited so thats what made me think it was maybe from another barn. That was another food drop.

Beat you to drop yipee! I did think I saw something fly down past box but as the chick on view was not particularly excited thought it might have been something else did not realise you got other owls passing Ah decided to dine inside I see. Anyway enough siad i was going to bed half an hour ago! Night.

Edit Oops now second one off for a fly about! Must be my imagination the other is still hidden in that corner. Think they are both flying.

i'm sure i read in last years diary that they had visitors too. I think these two are a bit behind in the growing up and other owlets nearby may be more advanced.
