Hey all,

Saw this empid this morning in my yard in Oceanside, CA. Believe it's a Pacific-slope Flycatcher but wanted to double check as they are rare here in the winter. Thanks for any help!

With the standard disclaimer that empid IDs are inherently hazardous -
Pacific-slope looks right to me.

I would add that this ID is particularly hazardous; Pacific-slope is most likely but I think eliminating Cordillerian Flycatcher is impossible from photos.

Cordilleran is not a vagrant to CA -- it breeds in northeast and is, undoubtedly, of regular occurrence even on the coast (probably particularly in fall), though identifying silent and/or females nearly impossible.

Thanks Tony. Again I make the classic mistake of assuming Los Angeles is the only place in California. Should not speak of state-wide ranges when I know naught of the northern half.
