My yearlist rose to 1,088 on July 1st. The trip list sits at 408 species with 181 lifers.

eBird tells me that I recorded 127 species yesterday but with various species seen that were not part of Checklista during travelling that total must have been far nearer 150 species or even 150 species plus.

A few pics.African Green Pigeon, Western Nicator, Meyer's Parrot, Red-headed Bluebill, Double-toothed Barbets, Yellow-billed Barbet, Splendid Starlings, Black-and-white Mannikins, Shining-blue Kingfisher, African Pied Wagtail, Purple-headed Starling, Yellow-bellied Oxpecker, Malachite Kingfishers, Golden-breasted Bunting, White-breasted Nigrita, White-browed Coucal, Temminck's Courser, Crowed Lapwing Red-necked Spurfowl & Senegal Lapwing.

All the best

The day started with our local guide in hospital on a drip. He was discharged to transfer us to our new accommodation on the other side of Bwindi. The afternoon was spent waiting for our Tour Guide to perk up after his drips at our new accommodation...

Nevertheless, my trip list rose to 482 species with 248 lifers and my year list on 1,173 species.

A few pics. Yellow-crowned Canary, Streaky Seedeater, White-necked Raven, African Harrier Hawk, Black Bee-eater, Grey-throated Barbet, Banded Prinia, White-chinned Prinia, Red-tailed Greenbul, Yellow-throated Greenbul, Equatorial Akalat, Grey-throated Barbet, Yellow-whiskered Bulbul, Northern Puffback, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, White-eyed Slaty-flycatcher, White-browed Crombec, Stripe-breasted Tit, Green White-eye, Ansorge's Greenbul & Black Sawwing.

My trip list has risen to 516 after two interrupted days. Yesterday was a travelling day but then was abandoned on arrival at our new location due to a guide hospitalisation.

Today, the remaining guide got us to the start of the Mount Sabyinyo trail against his own health needs - I am beyond impressed by that man - but was too incapacitated to tackle it. To be honest, he should not have driven and should be in hospital himself!

A five star rating - Uganda safaris with experts - Johnnie Uganda Safaris

We took the trail with Patrick - a compulsory guide from the National Park - and between his skills and my playback courtesy of Merlin on my phone, we got some decent results! 😀

Year list 1,207 species.

A few pics from the last two days. Green White-eye, Variable Sunbird, White-eyed Slaty-flycatcher, Pied Crow, Black-faced Apalis, Great Blue Turaco, Dusky Turtle Dove, Dusky Crimsonwing, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Stuhlman's Sunbird, Abyssinian Thrush, Rwenzori Turaco, Mountain Yellow Warbler, Olive Mountain Bulbul, Western Tinkerbird, Kandt's Waxbill, Rwenzori Batis, Cape Wagtail, Yellow-fronted Canary & Grey-throated Barbet.

Moving tomorrow as long as a guide is discharged from hospital to our last Ugandan destination. 😀

All the best

Paul

Our Ugandan leg finished with my trip list on 532 species and my year list on 1,221 species. The trip list is below par in comparison to my analysis of the three previous trips but that is unsurprising given four days' interrupted by logistical and health issues.

The most important news is that our Ugandan guide can now rest and get fixed and our Tour Guide got released from hospital and save for tiredness seems well recovered for our few days in Rwanda.

A few pics from the last two days. Slender-tailed Nightjar, Emerald-spotted Wood Dove, Brown Snake Eagle, Crested Barbet, Tabora Cisticola, Black Cuckooshrike (male & female), Yellow-breasted Apalis, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Masked Finfoot (two male pics & female with juvenile), Square-tailed Nightjar, Black-headed Oriole, African Stonechat, Red-throated Rock Martin, White-necked Raven, Yellow-billed Stork, Holub's Golden Weaver & White-backed Night Heron.

All the best

Paul
