In this post I am uploading two images of two birds I thought at the time were Western Sandpipers. However, the second of them seems to have a bill that is too long?
The first looks good for juv Western Sand to me, but the 2nd is a Stilt Sand (note the very straight tip-kinked bill, and leg colour, and length of the tibia btw).
The same could probably be said about some of the species you see with regularity on your side of the pond. It has been a long time since I last saw Dunlin or Curlew Sandpiper.
