Good morning fellow birdwatchers, could anyone tell me which creature has sicked up this delicious looking clump of matted fur and bones? Its length measures c5.5cm in the new fangled metric system. There's quite a few of these in a tiny coniferous plantation, and as of yet no sign of any living creature.

Ta very much indeed,

Tom

From the photo the bones look quite fragmented and broken. If so, it might be fox poo.

5.5cm is pretty big, and too big for a native owl. So perhaps Buzzard, feral Eagle Owl? It may just be roosting in there, hence you aren't seeing it.

Looks like we might have got slightly lost on our recent Cheshire bird race Tom. Looks suspiciously like the contents of 'The Aprentices' butty box. He chews heads off live hamsters you know.................8-P

Thanks for all your suggestions. The mystery may well be solved in the next three hours. I'll let you know. Bet you can't wait.
