Perched Besra? ID help, please. Guangxi, China (August) (1 Viewer)

Hainan on the fly

Well-known member
I saw this bird perched near the face of a cliff in a very confined area. I'm new at this but my best guess is a juvenile Besra. It was brownish in color. I did notice a barred tail as it flew away. The vertical marks on the throat and the streaked breast seem to be consistent with what I'm seeing on Oriental Bird Images

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Brian

It's a tricky angle, but I'd say the bird looks quite bulky and the feet are large and powerful. I think male Crested Goshawk is correct.
