Plant ID Devon, UK today (1 Viewer)

Hi all, I would be grateful for an ID for the attached taken today by a friend who is in the Brixham area of South Devon. Thank.

Looks like the so-called Anchor Plant, Colletia paradoxa, from Uraguay. It's not the greatest photo- does it seem to be planted or has it self-sown? I'm not aware of it being naturalised & isn't listed by Stace, the UK botanist's bible.

Colletia cruciata is grown as a garden plant (I got it from Bristol Botanic Gardens and used to grow it in Cardiff).

Seems to be a synonym for C. paradoxa. I was aware (as implied above) it was grown as a garden plant but unaware of any records of it naturalising?

Not a plant I'm familiar with, but there are 3 records, all in London, on the BSBI plant distribution map.

Thanks-my part of the world. See all kinds of things self-sowing but it's not a plant I see planted much to start with. Certainly an unusual, structural plant.

Thanks aeshna5 & Welsh Peregrine for the ID, I've found out it was in the garden, so presumably planted, of a Council owned stately home in Paignton.
