Dennis .... I noticed you posted this today in another thread ..... That indicates to me that you did not keep the Yosemite after all. What's the story? - - - - - I did buy a 6X30 Yosemite from B & H a couple of weeks ago for $79.69, which I intend to give to my nephew for his young kids. It is definitely an interesting binocular. The optics are very good in their own right and amazingly good for that price. It does have quirks in the focus mechanism and very loose eye cups. One at Bass Pro had the same quirks so that looks to be the nature of the beast rather than a sample variation. I fixed the loose eyecup issue by slipping on rubber o rings over the eye cup tubes and they now stay extended. It is not something I would recommend as a general purpose birding binocular for frequent use because of the quirks and because 6X is just not enough magnification for general use. However, it would be good choice for someone who would like to get a binocular for a minimum amount of money yet still get a quality view. I do think it will be great for young kids. It gives an adult quality view in a size and power ideal for kids at a price that will not cause cardiac arrest if it bites the dust. I have not made it over to my nephew's place yet which is about 40 miles away. So, in the mean time I will continue to have some fun with this interesting binocular.
