If you just want to spend a small amount of money, roof prisms work for most people and are generally more water proof. I would look at store brands in sports stores. They often have cheaper models. They have awful names like Predator, and most often are 10x42. But sometimes you get lucky, get an 8x42. Or you decide your hand is steady enough for 10x.  Just cover the Predator logo with black duct tape and you are set for the first year of birding.</p></blockquote><p></p>
