Just got back from this ferry (Aug 18th-21st). A lot of seabirds noted and an amazing trip species count of 101 (boat moving Portsmouth-boat stopped Portsmouth), due to the large nujmber of good birders present on a Waveney Bird club excursion. Wilsons Petrel, 150 + Cory`s Shearwater, 3 Great Shearwater, 27 Sabines Gulls (all adult, an excellent year for them), 4 Balearic Shearwater, 30+ Manx Shearwater, 10+ Sooty Shearwater, 100+ Storm Petrel, all 4 Skuas, 3 Grey Phalaropes and Reed and Willow Warblers on boat. Outstanding morning in Spain with Black-winged Kite (great record for the site), Egyptian Vulture, 3 Booted Eagle, 13 Griffon Vultures, Peregrine, Honey Buzzard, Hobby, Fan-tailed Warbler, 8 Melodious Warbler, 12 Red-backed Shrike, 5 Cirl Bunting, Nightingale, 8 Tree Pipit, 3 Pied Fly, Spotted Fly, Black Redstart, Redstart, Cettis Warblers, Serins, 5 Sardinian Warbler, Golden Oriole, Whinchat, 30+ Stonechat, Scarce Swallowtail, Adonis Blue, Hummingbird Hawk Moth, 3 Clouded Yellows and Jersey Tiger. Cetaceans were rather dissapointing but included 5 Cuviers Beaked Whales, 3 Fin Whales, Sperm Whale, Minke Whale, 7 Pilot Whales, all 3 regular Dolphins in large numbers, Harbour Porpoises, Blue Shark and 3 Ocean Sunfish. I would fully recommend the trip, it was magic and I set you the record of 101 to beat.
