Possible Female Scaup on reservoir near Mere Farm, South Staffordshire on 24th December 2021. Photographs to be added later.

Looks OK to me Emma. Was this the Fisheries or somewhere else? Has it been looked for since?
Thank you for your reply Phil. The 2 reservoirs are along the South Staffordshire Way near Mere Farm close to Enville. There isn’t parking near the area but it can be accessed via the South Staffordshire Way footpath. We haven’t been back since. I will report this sighting to the Staffordshire county recorder.

Nice find Emma.

Those pools can be productive particularly when used for watering spuds when rainfall is low. 3 years ago when there was plenty of edge a juvenile Greenshank spent a month there along with LRP, Green Sand and other odds and sods including Little Egret. Cuckoos can be frequent in the Spring and a large Oak along the adjacent field edge has breeding Barn Owl regularly which can be seen sitting in the nest cavity.

Good birding -
