Perhaps a little clarification, are the birds inside the store or outside. I would find it extremely difficult to believe they would try and shoot them inside a store, or for that fact outside in the car park. If they are inside they would have to close the store, most are open 24hours, in an attempt to shoot them at a cost of losing tens of thousands of pounds, they couldn't leave the store open with someone trying to shoot them. If they are outside the store and someone is trying to shoot them then that raises a whole range of other dangers to the public which I'm sure no licence would be granted. I'm also pretty sure Rent-o-kill don't carry guns so perhaps we are looking at air rifles? Has it been confirmed by a government official that they have been given licence or just the person on the inside at the store. Rent-o-kill may have been given licence to trap but it seems highly unlikely to grant licence to shoot them even with an air gun. If the birds are inside the store they could then perhaps be considered a health risk due to droppings being deposited amongst food stuffs. It would be a case that if they were not happy they would leave, they would be happy as they have warmth and a food source indoors and have no reason to leave on their own. If this outrage does happen I would write to Tesco headoffice and express yours, and our, disgust as such an act and ask why conservation bodies were not contacted to relocate the birds rather than going straight to the destroy them option. It doesn't stop it this time but may prevent it happening again. Perhaps the only other option is to go to the store now and speak to the management to ask them for a stay of execusion whilst you find a non leathal way of removing the birds and if they refuse tell them you will tell the papers and the RSPB which would give them a negative impression and they hate that. Personally if this true and not a wind up and they do kill the birds then I will discontinue parting with my money at Tesco's in the future.
