They sell one mini scope, 18-36x
http://www.promaster.com/
I saw the scope, a bit unclear at 36x even on a bright day, but for $200 you can have a nice back yard scope. Needs tripod.

also binoculars, tripods

They seem to be a decent product at the $300 level. I have never heard much about them, but my local camera store carries a lot of their products.

I personally don't need any of this stuff now except maybe the tripod. A fairly rugged cheap end tripod as far as I can tell. To go with the cheap scope. A tripod should weigh more than your scope. 3:)

Not sure this is a BIG recommendation, but another low end choice. For me the advantage is they have them to look at.

Their binoculars, roof prisms, are actually pretty good for glasses wearers. Optics OK, not sure what to compare to. Nikon sporter?

Second opinion: binoculars, though they may be coated, are below Nikon Sporter level.

If you wish to save a bit on roof prisms over major brands, I recommend RedHead Epics sold at Bass Pro Shop. The only advantage ProMaster has, I think, is a warranty. So you get so so roof prisms that work OK for basic birding, with a warranty.
