Message: <blockquote data-quote="bkrownd" data-source="post: 1319644" data-attributes="member: 44104"><p>I used to use a "protective" filter with my superzoom (first camera), but I never have with the DSLR.  The 70-300 really isn't expensive enough to worry that much about it, IMO.  My lenses are often a bit dirty, but really it doesn't effect the photos at all, and certainly much less than the filter would.  I resist the urge to "clean" as much as possible, and things have turned out OK despite all the hell they go through.  The real danger comes when you take the lens off the body and the last element becomes exposed.</p></blockquote><p></p>
