Ptarmigan and eagles (1 Viewer)

Hello

I am off To Dollar (just north of the Firth of Forth) in Scotland for a few days next week. Does anyone have any sites for Ptarmigan (especially) and or Golden Eagles within a 50 miles radius say? I don't know the area well at all, but am slightly familiar with the Ochil Hills. Also, are the Ospreys still likely to be present at Loch of The Lowes at this time of the year?

Regards, Chris

Hi Chris

The Ospreys are defintely still around you won't have much trouble seeing them anywhere.

As for Ptarmigan and Eagles within 50 miles err.....

The best bet is the Cairnwell in Glenshee I think but not promising anything :'D and it will be more than 50 miles.

I'm not sure about the Trossachs area for Eagles, that will be closer, but I don't think Ptarmigan are there.

Maybe someone else can help more.

I stayed in Glenrothes 3 weeks ago which is just above the Firth of Forth, we saw the Osprey's at Loch Garten. North Berwick (Bass rock) is a worth while visit for sea birds, Tayport at the mouth of the Firth of Tay has good bird watching and Loch Leven is worth visiting.
We did see one Eagle in "Glen Eagles" - kind of appropriate, which was not to far but no Ptarmigan.
Hope this may be of some help, have a good time.
Regards
Greg
