Puget Sound Sea Duck ID please (1 Viewer)

Hello, New to bird-watching and I spotted these cute sea ducks foraging close to shore. Diving completely under the surface then popping back up after about 30 secs.
Time: 0800 hr on Oct. 9th, 2020.
Location: Western side of Camano Island in the Puget Sound. Washington State, USA

Weather: Overcast gray sky. 55 degrees Fahrenheit

Dark almost black overall plumage with White markings.

Size- compared to an adult mallard duck, about 1/2 the size.

Thank you in advance. 55D770EE-527A-47D5-9195-356672560911.jpg
