Radde's or Dusky Warbler - Kuwait (1 Viewer)

I think the wings look a bit too long for Dusky or Radde's and supercilium on the weak side. Also jizz not right for Radde's. Could Willow Warbler be an option?

Why would that be a Radde's? Bill seems too weak, legs too thin, there's no mottling on the cheeks, the supercilium is too slender. I'm not really convinced

... and primary projection is much too long (see pic 3)

I was expecting a response ;)

The biggest problem I have with this bird is the bill length and shape.
Radde's warblers can look particularly thin legged from some angles, especially from the rear so although they're particularly heavy legged and booted from the side, I don't from these images see this as too much of a problem.

The pp does look a little on the long side I agree, but it could just be the way the bird is holding the wing ?

Mottled cheeks not always obvious given the light - http://orientalbirdimages.org/search.php?p=19&Bird_ID=1831&Bird_Family_ID=&pagesize=1&Location=

It looks rather bull-necked in the first image but certainly not in the last. Seems to be olivey toned in the images, lined super...

So for me its that bill and then the pp

As you said that bill looks nothing like Radde's, more like Dusky, but for that the yellowish undertail coverts don't fit. Would love to hear more opinions on this bird

To my eye the bird looks good for a dull, dark Willow Warbler, but not for Dusky or Radde's. Check the last pic which shows a good Willow-jizz. Note pale area below eye rather typical for Willow.

When I first saw this, I thought the same as you, which might not be differing much now. I posted earlier because I was expecting a debate, which is good. I saw this on FB being claimed as a first for Kuwait and thought Mmmm. I can sort of see where they are coming from in terms of jumping the gun a little but for me there's no getting away from that bill! The images aren't great but they are consistent. I think the gulf light is playing a little trickery here with the ochre tint to the undertail coverts etc.
I've seen astonishing numbers of Radde's passing through China over the years but never one with a bill like this one. That along with those long wings just doesn't sit right. I have seen that pale mark below the eye on Radde's but as you say, much more typical of WW, and jizz wise, yes, that's very WW in the last pic.

looks like a Raddes/Dusky cut and shunt - front end Dsky, back end Raddes! Apricot bum does make me think what else could it be but Raddes though....?
