Hi

Firstly apologies for the very poor images. I photographed this bird very early yesterday morning when the light was very poor. I managed two photographs before it flew off. I have attached "as is" images from the two originals and two that I have tried to lighten.

It was big and I suspect it could be a Buzzard.

Any help will be really appreciated

Where were the photos taken?

It looks very osprey-ish in the photos

Hi

The bird was at Moore Nature Reserve in Cheshire. An Osprey was sighted over about a week earlier in the year about a mile from where I photographed this bird.

Difficult one for me so many photo,s overtime on here take just that credibility away from perfect id due to light Conditions or focus.

It does appear to be rather "small headed" with an apparant mask but the overall jizz / shape / build is right for Common Buzzard.

Common buzzard - the small head is a photographic artefact.

Buzzard species - could well be Common, but I'd not rule Rough-legged out either, that dark belly and whitish breast is suggestive.
