Raptor.... (1 Viewer)

Evening all,
Any help with the identity of the attached raptor would be appreciated. A friend found it near Haskayne on the Lancashire mosslands recently after he was called out to investigate a loss of power (he's an electricity industry worker) and found the bird underneath the cables, obviously having collided with them.
He assumed it was a Buzzard but looking at the size of the bill, claws, head and general stocky build, I think it looks more like a Golden Eagle or (presumably escaped) eagle species! This seems ridiculous I know but the only Buzzard I can see is one that's been taking steroids!

Tell me I'm not going mad.

Thanks,

John

It is a Common Buzzard alright (in juvenile plumage).

Just badly singed by the electrocution, so feather tips are gone leaving in impression of smaller, more eagle like head and neck.
