I have friends in the tip clearance business and their falcons regularly take GBB gulls even the smaller tiercels so a male Gos if he a decent sized male will take GBB. It is all in the way the raptor attacks . Earlier someone said on this thread that a 2 lb bird of prey would come of worse in a mix up with a cat. Well I had a friend who's female Red Tailed Hawk was sat minding its own business when a cat decided that the funny looking Chicken sat in the garden would be fair game and started to stalk towards the Hawk. This was an experienced hunting bird that took Hares regularly and as the cat made its move the hawk just bound to its head ! Game over so when a hawk is in hunting condition and knows how to tackle large quarry it is surprising what they can take on. I had a Lanner falcon that weighed 1lb 8 oz and she never liked herons in her air space. I was dumbfounded one day when she attacked one so belligerently that she drove it to the ground. This was obviously not hunting but opened my eyes to the aggressiveness of some raptors. Going back to the title of the thread Goshawks do regularly take other birds of prey if they can surprise them. But I agree with someones earlier comment a Gos's worst nightmare is the Eagle Owl and allot of other raptors for that matter!!
