Once Bittern, Twice Shy
A female was seen at Belvide and Gailey on New Years Day this year, but don't mention that too loudly to some Gailey patchers on here. Mind you, they've made up for that since then. :t:
Just looking through "The New Birds of the West Midlands" makes interesting reading. There's more than you think, but that's mainly due to an influx in 1993. That consisted of 13 records of 45 birds, but that's the whole WMBC region, including W*r*ickshire and W*rc*stershire. But Tittesworth had 8 and Chasewater had 2.
1948 - 1978, 18 records with Chasewater having 10 of those. Previously the only sites have been Chasewater, Blithfield, Tittesworth and Copmere. So a Rudyard tick if nothing else.

Hi guys - as a non-Staffs birder, could someone please give me an idea of how many previous county records there have been, and when the last one was?
Many thanks in advance,
