Any idea who saw the Purple Sand last night? A fantastic record but i'm suprised at no posts or info from the 'Uttoxeter Two' aka Barker and Powell...i'm hoping that they did manage to connect with it tho?

Nothing off interest at all at Gailey over lunchtime except a couple of Reed Warbler trying their best to look 'Rare' but failing miserably...;)

I think it was Mr Barker who had it, and I think Mr Powell is going to have another look for it tonight.

I couldn't stay long this morning, so there's a good chance that it's still lurking somewhere...it's amazing how things can just suddenly appear from nowhere at Uttox.

Cheers Ian. As Steve mentioned, found by AB, unfortunately I couldn't make it last night. A good patch-blocker, certainly not a bird you would expect in early September.

But even so, still chuffed with the Spotted Redshank, another site tick. Still there this evening along with 2 Greenshank and a Whinchat.

Missed the Osprey earlier today, but besides the Curlew Sandpiper showing well amongst the Dunlin in St Stephen's Bay this afternoon - a Little Stint,
three Ruff, four Greenshank and a Peregrine were in Tad Bay mid-late afternoon - plus a Hobby hawking below the dam - and a Swift feeding above the causeway.

Cheers

Unfortunately no sign of the Little Stint and 9 Curlew Sands in Ten Acre Bay that came on the pager. But I did see 2 Curlew Sands and 11 Dunlin in Ten Acre Bay, and a Sanderling in St. Stephens Bay.
