I know this must get asked constantly, but anyone want to comment on which variant this is? Seemed to be the same size as the goldfinches and the siskins it was with.
Picture was hard as the camera was confused by closer branches so very few obtained in anything like focus.

I do wonder before the merge how anyone could have ruled out hybrids though.

I think part of the problem is you couldn't tell where the "pure" ones started and ended half the time, never mind "hybrids"

Redpolls to become one species

In a major taxonomic shake-up, redpolls are to be lumped into a single species. Currently, three species are recognised: Lesser Redpoll, Common Redpoll and Arctic Redpoll.

At least I can be clearly sure that it is a 'Redpoll'!
