Hi broke HB-73 hood , for 300mm lens, whilst tripping over a rocky area ,£45 to replace . Has anyone purchased any off the third party sellers on eBay , etc,to replace a hood for a more reasonable price, thanks in advance for any advice.

Not for that model but I have purchased other Nikon hoods from third parties on Amazon and Aliexpress, no problem.
