I had de opportunity to visit, early in July, the du Teich ornithological reserve, near the village known as Le Teich, in Aquitaine, France (near Bordeaux). I read that it was especially interesting in winter, but anyway I decided to go there. And, in fact, it was a very nice visit. You can see some pictures and the complete list of species in my blog. Just entering into the reserve, and after crossing a wood bridge, I was able to see several species, inside vegetation and in some channels. Here I saw the first melodius warbles and some storks. Moving inside the reserve, and after crossing some trails and channels, you arrive to the marsh. There, one can see common shelduck, mallards and mute swans, together with isolated individuals of other ducks. Abundants were, during all the journey, black kites and common black-headed gulls, together with dunlins, black-winged stilts and other species. In one of the islands there was an isolated great black-backed gull, more black-winged stilts and other species, including a great crested grebe, probably in its nest. In one of the hides the area had less water, and more mud in the shores. Here there were common and spotted redshanks, northern lapwings, and also several eurasian spoonbills. Here also I managed to see several coypus. Finally, the visit ends in a wooded area where one can see several passerines. Here I could take a picture of a black kite perched in a dead tree, and a western green lizard. Regards, Antonio
