The Starlings performed well and the tide was ideal at Grune point. We did go back with the group on Saturday (we missed out Talkin Tarn because of time restrictions) and it was another great day with good numbers of waders and ducks at Grune Point, but unfortunately the Starlings moved roost so the view was not as good and because of wind the birds flew low. I have just read that someone visited on Sunday evening and had even poorer luck with bird numbers well down and sounds as though the birds had moved even further away. Perhaps the gales of Saturday night had played a part in that.</p><p></p><p>I shan't be writing a report of the group visit as it would be too repetative. I did manage to add Barnacle Geese and Skylark to my year list however. It was a breezy, but sunny day. The rains did begin, but not until we boarded the coach to return to Newcastle. Lucky again eh? That night was wet with rough winds. I feel well into my 2009 birding now. I'll have to get in at least a couple of local trips before the end of January.</p><p></p><p>take care all</p></blockquote><p></p>
