Whoosh netting at rape bait station, site 1, 27.9.19
A decent flock has been drawn to feed on a fantastic stand of cornflower adjacent to the feed station, with significant numbers tempted by rape onto the catching area. Had hoped there would be some migrant linnet with this goldfinch flock, possibly including previously ringed birds, but none were seen though there are lots of linnet feeding on rape stubbles around the farm.
Goldfinch new 28
retrap 1
The retrap was ringed by another member of the group 3.75km away in January.
Also seen/heard
Greylag geese
Buzzard
Kestrel
Peewit (2)
Skylark
Meadow pipit
Jay
Reed bunting
On the walk home, 2 grey partridge.
We also had 2 golden plover in this field a week ago (and heard our first this autumn about three weeks ago).
Mainly forgetting corvids, gulls, non-natives, pigeons and tits.
Many thanks to all concerned, Mike.
